Hearing aids are very expensive and need quite a bit of tweaking before they will work well for you, you need someone that really cares about his patients, and Hearing Healthcare is a secure choice.
I bought my first pair of hearing aids at Hearing Healthcare. I visited different shops before deciding to buy, but since the first visit Paul showed great attention and patience, answered all my many questions and I even came back few times before deciding, and he never pushed me into buying something until I was sure of it. Following Paul’s suggestions I got a pair of Siemens CIC, and they work very well. I wasn’t completely happy with the size of the fitting, as I wanted them really tiny, so Paul sent them back to be remoulded and convinced Siemens to make them much smaller and deeper. When they came back they were great, and after some tweaking sessions we got them like I wanted. Their secretary Gemma always answered to my requests quickly and gave me appointments with short notice. Hearing aids are very expensive and need quite a bit of tweaking before they will work well for you, you need someone that really cares about his patients, and Hearing Healthcare is a secure choice.

The Resound Alera instruments are excellent and have greatly improved my listening comfort at social occasions, business meetings or just watching television. About 5 or 6 years ago I lost the hearing in my left ear – it was dead. Then the hearing in my right ear started to deteriorate and my Doctor said I should get a hearing aid for this ear and recommended Mr. Paul Hussey of Hearing Healthcare. “My wife and I live in Canberra Australia. Some years ago we started planning an extended vacation to the British Isles and Europe. At the same time that we were planning the trip I had visited an audiologist in Canberra to have my hearing tested and found that like many people in their 50’s my hearing was fading in the upper frequencies. The audiologist recommended getting hearing aids earlier rather than later in life as my mother had done in order to slow the rate of decline and onset of tinnitus as much as possible.
Unfortunately the cost of the recommended Phonak Q70 hearing aids was approaching $8,600 (Aus) including fitting and was more than we could afford bearing in mind the likely cost of our trip. The cost of electronic items is generally much higher in Australia than in the rest of the world. It then occurred to me that as Phonak hearing aids are manufactured in Switzerland that it may be cheaper to buy them and have them fitted in Europe, preferably in Ireland or Scotland to minimise the problems of any language barrier.
As our itinerary developed, it seemed likely that we would both arrive and leave Ireland via Dublin, so I emailed a number of audiologists in Dublin to enquire if they were able to supply and fit the hearing aids that I had been prescribed in Canberra. I was surprised at the lack of response by most of the outlets in Dublin and of the few that replied I found that Mr. Paul Hussey from Hearing Healthcare Ireland (www.hearing.ie) was the most helpful. I was able to send my audiologist’s report to him and he confirmed the suitability of the Phonak hearing aids to my particular hearing problem. Moreover, he could supply, adjust and fit the hearing aids for much less than what I was quoted locally. I was happy with the price and also happy that we would have 3 weeks to tour Ireland with the hearing aids before returning to Dublin for a second adjustment before heading across to Scotland to continue our holiday.
Our plan for the trip was then finalised. We would start with a 2 week river cruise in Myanmar (Burma) then fly to Dublin via Dubai, spend 3-4 weeks in Ireland, catch a ferry to Cairnryan in Scotland, tour Scotland for 3 weeks, then catch another ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam and then lease a car to go travelling for 3 months down through Holland, Belgium, France, Italy and fly out of Europe from Rome.
